Super Smash Bros 64

Super Smash Bros 64

Super Smash Bros 64 is a fighting game that brings together characters and locations from different franchises. Players can choose their favorite characters and engage in battles where they use unique abilities and stage hazards to damage opponents and try to knock them off the stage.

Single-player Mode

In single-player mode, players face computer-controlled opponents in a specific order, trying to defeat them with a limited number of lives and time. The difficulty level and number of lives can be adjusted, but the opponents remain the same. If the player loses all lives or runs out of time, they can continue at the cost of losing overall points. There are also minigames like "Break the Targets" and "Board the Platforms" where the objective is to break targets or traverse special platforms. A "Training Mode" allows players to experiment and practice.

Multiplayer Mode

Multiplayer mode allows up to four players to compete with predetermined rules. Stock and timed matches are common modes, where players have a set number of lives or a time limit. Free-for-all and team battles are also options. The winner is determined when time runs out or when all but one player or team loses their lives. In case of a tie, sudden death occurs, where all fighters have high damage and the last one standing wins.

How to play

In Super Smash Bros 64, the goal is not to deplete an opponent's life bar but to launch them off the stage. Each player has a damage percentage that increases as they take damage, with a maximum of 999%. As the percentage rises, attacks send the character farther. To win, a player must knock their opponents off the stage's edge. Characters can try to recover by using jumping moves, but some have better recovery options than others. Different characters also have different weights, affecting how easily they can be knocked off and how well they can recover.

Unlike other fighting games that require complex button combinations, Super Smash Bros. uses the same controls for all characters. Characters can freely move around and are not limited to facing opponents directly. The game emphasizes aerial and platforming skills, with dynamic stages that offer more than just flat platforms. Blocking, dodging, grabbing, and throwing are all part of the gameplay mechanics.

During battles, various weapons and power-ups from Nintendo franchises, like Koopa shells, hammers, and Poké Balls, can be found and used to deal damage or recover health. The nine multiplayer stages are inspired by Nintendo games and offer different gameplay elements and strategies.
